The Complete Lyrics for the CD "A Puppy at the Table":

Song #1 - Puppy at the Table, Glenn Bowen, 2005

I’m like a puppy at the table

Like a puppy at the table

Gonna jump up just as soon as I am able

Like a puppy at the table

Like a puppy on the floor

I’m like a puppy on the floor

If you rub my belly, I will be back for more

Like a puppy on the floor

I’m not a puppy on a leash

Not a puppy on a leash

Don’t run away, ‘cause I won’t give you fleas

I’m not a puppy on a leash

I’m like a puppy at the table

Like a puppy at the table

Gonna jump up just as soon as I am able

Like a puppy at the table

Song #2 – Walking Along the Railroad Track, Glenn Bowen, 2005

Walking along the railroad track

Hoping that the night is cold and black

Cause in my mind I cant go back

I’m just walking along the Railroad track

Walking along the track at night

Knowing not a damn thing will turn out right

The strong make the rules, and the winners get to write

What only the dead know happened that night

I once met the devil, met him face to face

In a house full of servants, a luxurious place

I turned down his offer for a futile grace

Such an elegant man, such a beautiful face

Now I’m walking along the railroad track

Hoping that the night is cold and black

Cause in my mind I wont go back

Just walking along the Railroad track

Song #3 – Three Day Blues – Glenn Bowen, 2005

From the One Act Musical “Nobody Cares” – Glenn Bowen, foolscircus, 2002

(Used with permission)

Come home sick and tired, sun be burning my back all day

Woman be there waiting, say honey, where’s’ the pay?

I look down at the dirt, she say we aint had bread for three day

I say woman stop this naggin’, can’t you just go away

She say honey, what’s the problem, I will understan’

I will always be your woman, baby, you my man,

I look down at the dirt, she say we aint had bread for three day

I say woman stop this naggin’, up an’ walk away

Well ol’ Jim had a bottle, so I took eight, nine hit

Come home sloppy drunk, that woman just waitin’ to throw a fit

She say Lord this a fine sight, we aint had bread for three day

I say woman stop this naggin’ can’t you jus’ go away?

Repeat last verse, with Harmonica voicing the last line

Song #4 - Dirty Underwear, Glenn Bowen, 2005

He died behind the wheel

And the people who were there

Said he didn’t love his mother

No he really didn’t care

He died behind the wheel

And the people who were there

Said it really was a sight

Yes, that dirty underwear

Dirty underwear, yes that dirty underwear

He didn’t listen to his mother no he really didn’t care

Dirty underwear, yes that dirty underwear

He didn’t listen to his mother no he really didn’t care

Song #5 – Dig It, Glenn Bowen, 2005

Instrumental with Tim Rohling Vocals, Guitar, Guy Acree Guitar

Song #6 – Casey, The Puppy, Glenn Bowen, 2005

Casey’s a puppy, and she barks a lot

But Casey’s the only puppy that we got

She might look harmless, but believe you me

If you were a squirrel you’d be up a tree

‘cause Casey the puppy dog chases squirrels

and Casey the puppy is a very good girl

When she hears the door she barks like a mad dog

When she trees a squirrel, she jumps like a frog

When I ride my bike, she tries to bite the gears,

I like my puppy, but my puppy is weird

‘cause Casey the puppy dog chases squirrels

and Casey the puppy is a very good girl

Casey got sick and kept falling down,

She wound up in the hospital, with no one around

She stayed with the vets for about a week

I was worried they might put puppy to sleep

[Solo passage – blues harp [harmonica]]

Now, Casey the puppy’s running in the yard

She can’t catch the squirrels, but she’s trying hard

Casey’s a puppy, and you heard it here,

I like my puppy, but my puppy is weird

Yeh, I like my puppy, but my puppy is weird

Song #7 -The Fucking Dinosaur Song, Glenn Bowen, 2005

G. Bowen, ACT Settlement Studios, 2005

(Used with Permission)

I don’t want to be electric, then I’d have to be plugged in

Maybe I’ll just go kinetic, paint my message on a train

I don’t want to be electric, then I’d have to be plugged in

Maybe I’ll go Democratic, you’ll never hear from me again

Oh my, I’m old and I’m sore, brain the size of some fucking dinosaur’s

Hey, Hey, I don’t know anymore, I must be some kind of fucking dinosaur

I can remember when I used to play,

You pull the harp out of your pants, and just blast away

Now, you need a harp, a mic, an amp, and a stage

And the soundman can make or break your day

Oh my, I’m old and I’m sore, brain the size of some fucking dinosaur’s

Hey, Hey, I don’t know anymore, I must be some kind of fucking dinosaur

Hey, Hey if there’s a God above,

What the Hell happened to Peace and Love?

I said, Hey, Hey if there’s a God above,

What the Hell happened to Peace and Love?

Oh my, I’m old and I’m sore, brain the size of some fucking dinosaur’s

Hey, Hey, I don’t know anymore, I must be some kind of fucking dinosaur

I can remember when I used to play,

pull the harp out of your pants, and just blast away

Now, you need a harp, a mic, an amp, and a stage

And the soundman can make or break your day

Oh my, I’m old and I’m sore, brain the size of some fucking dinosaur’s

Hey, Hey, I don’t know anymore, I must be some kind of fucking dinosaur

Song #8 - The Problem I have with Homeless People, Glenn Bowen, 2005

The problem I have with homeless people is some days I look like one

The problem I have with homeless people is I have a mother and father

            And they have a son

And when the world was cold and rejected me

They took me in and helped me,

They took me in and held me,

They took me in and loved me

And the problem I have with homeless people is they have no one,

And I’m not the one who can help them

The problem I have with homeless people is my faith is not great enough

The problem is I pray for soft times for myself, not for people too rough

My faith won’t move mountains, my faith won’t part the Red Sea,

My faith is pretty damn useless, unless it concerns me

The problem I have with homeless people is they are God’s children

The problem I have is they are His children, and I will reject them

I will reject them from now till the day I pass on

I will reject him as I put a buck in his hand and walk on

The problem I have is I can do nothing, and I have done it

The problem I have is if it’s contagious, I don’t want to catch it

I’ll go out of my way to avoid those that I can

But I will always do the least that I can, because that’s who I am

The problem I have with homeless people is they have no place to sit

And I go to work and I hate it

But it’s all that I got

            And I guess it’s a lot

And the problem I have with homeless people is sometimes I know when I’m wrong

And I don’t need no homeless person shuffling along
